WonderWorks Panama City Beach FL
As you drove into town, did you notice an upside-down building, with palm trees growing away from our sunny sky instead of reaching toward it?
That wonderful example of wacky architecture is WonderWorks, a museum housing more than 100 hands-on exhibits to ignite your imagination and challenge your mind.
(Great things to do on a vacation to Panama City Beach, we might add.)
Legend has it – wink, wink – WonderWorks began as a top-secret research laboratory in an undisclosed location somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle. When an experiment went awry, a tornado began to swirl inside the lab, ultimately carrying the building thousands of miles away, and plopping it upside down where it stands today.
According to Erica Lewis, a sales and marketing professional for the company, the owner wanted to create an eye-catching concept that would make visitors wonder what was inside, while also providing educational entertainment that would be fun for all ages.
“Panama City Beach is, of course, a beautiful and prime vacation spot with the beach being what attracts many visitors,” Erica says. “We knew that families were looking for an alternative day activity that would give the kids some fun rides to go on.”
Both tourists and locals have responded to the topsy-turvy museum. Many people visit WonderWorks on unexpected rainy days, as it provides a great indoor family attraction – with rides and exhibits offering educational entertainment. Of course, you don’t have to tell the kids they’re learning. Just let them be little explorers.
Erica tells us favorite activities at WonderWorks include the Wonder Coaster virtual roller coaster, Black Hawk Virtual Army Experience, Glow-in-the-Dark Ropes Course and Glow-in-the-Dark Laser Tag.
And she even offers an ‘insider’ tip: sign up for the WonderWorks newsletter to receive discounts and specials during your Panama City Beach stay.
The 35,000 square foot indoor amusement park houses exhibits including Natural Disasters, Physical Challenge Zone, Light & Sound Zone, Space Discovery, Imagination Lab and the Far Out Art Gallery. Let your imagination run wild when you explore the wonder of WonderWorks.
WonderWorks is located at 9910 Front Beach Road in Panama City Beach, FL. To learn more, please visit the WonderWorks website or call (850) 249-7000.
